the dilbert blog

Okay, I came across this post by Scott Adams (author of the Dilbert comic strip) in a round-about kind of way. Seth Godin posted a link to it on his blog saying, “I almost always want to link to Scott, but I resist, figuring you must have already read what he’s written. This time, I can’t resist.” I found it to be inspiring and encouraging, again, in a round-about kind of way.

Check it out and tell me what you think: “In Over My Head”.

Maybe I’m missing it, but was his basic point, “give it the old college try”? Whatever his point, it sure seems like he’s had a charmed life, even if his failures outnumber his successes.

I think his point is that in taking great risks (and many of them), he’s experienced great success. I don’t think he’s saying everyone can expect the same or that he’s lived some kind of formula that others can expect to duplicate.

But I think he is encouraging a basic principle: don’t allow your life decisions to be dictated by fear or cynicism.
