audioslave revelations

Audioslave RevelationsFrom the title track, “Revelations”, through the familiar Rage-like licks of “Sound of a Gun” right on into good, old fashion rock with a fun flare (”One and the Same” and “Jewel of the Summertime”), Audioslave’s new album is the same sort of solid offering we’ve come to expect from Cornell and the boys.

Of course, if a lot of bands released a new album and it was touted as “more of the same” this would suggest disappointment. Not so with Audioslave. I like this album for the same reason I liked their first album. And the second. It rocks. It’s an interesting mix of Cornell’s waling vocals (rough from years of screaming, but still impressive) and the rhythmic, pounding repetition of clever riffs and winding bass lines that made Rage Against the Machine more than just one angry guy shouting into a microphone. I dig it.

If you’re looking for a good, solid rock experience, check out this album. And then check out Audioslave’s first two installments. I think you’ll like ‘em.
