I emailed Shane Claiborne on Monday night to see if I could come and visit him up in Philidelphia at The Simply Way. I suggested flying up there for a weekend and just hanging out. You know, to see what it is that they do and see how it compares to what he writes about in The Irresistible Revolution.
Unfortunately (for me), Shane has gotten to be a pretty popular guy of late and I am far from the only person who has asked about visiting. Could have been cool, though. I would like to see this community of his in action.

In all seriousness, it is a wonderful (but challenging) book that will push you to reconsider your ideas of the church, community, giving, sharing, social justice and a whole bunch of other big issues. Written in a very conversational style, it is easy to read while maintaining a real level of depth.
